Getting care: It’s important to understand where you can go to seek care.

Where you go for care depends on whether it’s planned or unplanned. Planned care is when you make an appointment well in advance to see a provider. Unplanned care is trickier because it means a health issue has come up unexpectedly.

If your issue isn’t an emergency, call your primary care physician (PCP) first, if possible. If your PCP is not available, you can start with the UPMC MyHealth 24/7 Nurse Line.* Our experienced registered nurses are available 24/7, and they can direct you to the best place to seek care. If your health issue involves a minor condition like a cold or sore throat, another option is to have an e-visit with a UPMC provider using UPMC AnywhereCare.
