Hi, everyone! My name is Ashley Bramble and I am one of the on-site health coaches with the Health Plan. I am very excited to have the opportunity to write about my passion of health and wellness, and share it with you!
But before we get into that, let me tell you a little bit about myself:
My passion for health and wellness began when I was young — after I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. This condition left me with little energy, no appetite, and lots of pain. Through many doctor’s visits, medications, and one surgery, I was finally in remission. However, I had become accustomed to being inside and on the couch most of the time. But my sister’s encouragement helped me get active again. And it has led me to my passion for health and fitness.
I went to Slippery Rock University and graduated with a degree in Exercise Science, and then continued on to the University of Pittsburgh for my Master’s degree in Health and Physical Activity. Through my education, I have had many opportunities to work with a variety of individuals. While I became an on-site health coach with UPMC Health Plan in December 2013, I have also had the opportunity to work at the YMCA and UPMC Pittsburgh Bariatrics to help members and patients achieve their fitness goals.
I also hold the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and the AFAA Primary Group Fitness Certification. I love teaching group fitness classes, and can teach anything from body sculpting and boot camps to kickboxing and Zumba! Besides teaching classes, I love to stay active and exercise. I love to run and have participated in numerous 5Ks and 10Ks, and half marathons. I will be running the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon in May!
Health and fitness has been a major part of my life and has led me to this field with the goal of helping others live a healthier lifestyle. I hope to continue motivating others through my own experiences and education.
