Friday, December 1 – Healthy, Active, and Green: A Nature Walk

Join a naturalist at the Frick Environmental Center for a relaxed hike through the woods. There are so many things to see out there! Take an hour out of your Friday to come out and see what flies past.

Saturday, December 2 – Jingle Bell Run

One of the most spirited runs in the nation, this festive holiday theme 5K benefits arthritis research! Get in the spirit on race day and wear your holiday clothing for this one-of-a-kind 5K!

Sunday, December 3 – Healthy for Holidays

Head to The Block Northway for a day of health in the middle of the holiday hustle. There will be 14 different classes and clinics, vendor tables, and free health screenings and flu shots from UPMC. All classes and clinics are donation-based, with proceeds going to Change the Game, a movement-based program for at-risk youth in Pittsburgh.

Sunday, December 3 – Candy Cane Walk

Join Venture Outdoors for a family friendly candy cane walk. We’ll search for candy canes hidden along the trail and afterward enjoy some delicious hot chocolate! We’ll use the candy canes we find to stir the hot chocolate and add a little extra flavor to this tasty treat.

Monday, December 4 – Health Smart: Yoga

Live healthy! Take the first steps to achieving your fitness goals and improving your lifestyle with a yoga class for all levels. Bring your own yoga mat and block.

Tuesday, December 5 – Holiday Lights Tour and Ugly Sweater Run with Pro Bike+Run

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And that means it’s time to run through downtown Pittsburgh and see the lights. Come join us as we run through the city and see all the amazing holiday lights and sights.

Friday, December 8 – Good Karma Yoga and Toy Drive

Enjoy a FREE, all-levels, slow-flow candlelight yoga class to bring health, balance, and blissful calm into your life this holiday season! In exchange for the class, please bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Child Life Department of Children’s Hospital of UPMC. Movement Studio Pittsburgh will present these toys to UPMC.

Saturday, December 9 – Steel City Road Runners Cookie Run

Get ready for marathon training season and do some good with Steel City Road Runners. Here’s how it works: bring some cookies to share and a toy to donate to Toys for Tots. And while there will be the annual run, make sure you snack and listen to SCRR coaches discuss training strategies to get you ready for 26.2 in May!

Tuesday, December 12 – Free Yoga

This all-levels yoga class will focus on building strength in the basic yoga postures and creating mobility in the joints.  Modifications will be given for all poses, making this class suitable for all levels and ages. 

Friday, December 15 – Fleet Feet Holiday Lights Run

Put on your best holiday socks and wrap yourself in lights for the most wonderful run of the year. You’ll run or walk the best indoor and outdoor holiday displays in the city with hundreds of others and have the opportunity to donate to Children’s Hospital’s Free Care Fund. If this doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, we don’t know what will.

Saturday, December 16 – Wonderland Hike

Get out of the city and enter into the winter wonderland of the Laurel Highlands! We’re going to escape the rush of the holiday season and enjoy a hike through the peaceful woods of Laurel Hill State Park. A grove of old-growth Hemlocks, a serene lake, and plenty of woodland creatures await! This hike is dog friendly!

Tuesday, December 19 – Tai Chi

This all-levels Tai Chi class will focus on learning the Northern Wu Style 36 posture form in addition to special warm-ups and basic push-hands exercises.  Participants will finish with knowing a complete Tai Chi form that can be practiced independently at home as exercise.  Hands-on instruction will be given for all movements, making this class suitable for both beginners and those with prior experience.

Thursday, December 21 – Winter Solstice Hike

Join us for an evening of exploration on a moderate 4-mile hike around Hartwood Acres. On the shortest day of the year, we will enjoy the tranquility of the evening, while listening for the critters that prefer the dark and stopping occasionally to gaze at the stars.

Thursday, December 28 – Yoga at Carnegie Museum of Art

Museums are places for renewal, celebrating the great accomplishments of fellow humans. Join a crew of fellow humans for a weekly, rejuvenating yoga session set in Pittsburgh’s most beautiful spaces! Instructor Stefanie Zito emphasizes stretching and relaxation for an energizing boost headed into the weekend.
