Saturday, June 2ndNational Trails Day Hike

Hike in celebration of National Trails Day! We’ll join thousands of people from across the country participating in this national celebration of trails! We’ll hike 4-6 miles on this moderate hike.

Saturday, June 2nd14th Annual Walk Against Hunger

The walk is held on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail beginning at The Pump House located at the Waterfront in Homestead. To fulfill our mission and continue our success in the Steel Valley we have declared WAR against Hunger. The goal of this walk and ride is to raise money in support of our efforts to eliminate hunger and improve the quality of life for low income individuals and families.

Saturday, June 2ndOpen Streets Sharpsburg

The streets of Sharpsburg will once again be open to joggers, bicyclists, and jugglers alike for the third year in a row. Come on down between 11am and 4pm for free roam of Main Street from 6th Street to 13th Street.

Join Pittsburgh Running Tours and Bike the Burgh Tours on our special Run ‘n Roll Duathlon tour! Old and new buildings, city squares and public art will turn this run and ride into a unique event full of exciting discoveries of the ‘burgh.

Pure Barre Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy are back at it to bring you another round of Pure Barre in the Parks! Grab a mat and get your shake on with the beautiful Cathedral of Learning as your backdrop. This pop-up community class is FREE, but you must preregister.

Yoga is the perfect way to wind down after an invigorating hike. Join us for a quick-paced 3-4 mile hike along the streets of Lawrenceville followed by an introduction to yoga. Instructors from Yoga Factory Pittsburgh will complement the hiking experience by leading us in 60-minute Vinyasa Fusion style yoga class, including meditation, a flow sequence, and deep stretching.

UPMC Health Plan is very proud to sponsor Walk for Children’s — an event for patients, caretakers, families, and individuals throughout the community to get involved and give back to Children’s. We encourage you to get involved by registering a team for the Walk. This day is also about celebrating the patient champions: those who have been or are currently being treated at Children’s and who show great strength and courage throughout their medical journeys.

Saturday, June 23rdRachel Carson Trail Challenge

The Challenge is a 35-mile long, one-day, sunrise to sunset endurance hike on nearly the entire brutal Rachel Carson Trail. Unlike a footrace, the “challenge” is not to win, but to endure, to finish the hike in one day. This time, the Challenge starts in Harrison Hills Park at sunrise, 5:50 AM, and ends 35 miles later in North Park. The deadline for finishing is sunset, 8:54 PM or 15 hours 4 minutes.

If 35 miles sounds too daunting, we offer two shorter events that same day. The first is the Homestead Challenge, an 18-mile hike from near the Rachel Carson Homestead. The second is a 7-mile Friends & Family Challenge from Hartwood Acres Park. All events finish in North Park.

OpenStreetsPGH returns in 2018 with three free events sponsored by UPMC Health Plan, including one new extended route, and one brand-new route on a brand-new day! These events invite Pittsburghers of all ages and abilities to reimagine their streets as places for people, not just cars. They will offer something for everyone, from fitness workshops to kids’ activities, shopping, brunch, community arts, and special promotions presented by more than 100 local businesses and organizations. Three event hub stages around the routes will feature free fitness classes providing dance, strength training, and mind and body workshops.

Sunday, June 24thAllegheny Islands Paddle

We’ll paddle around Fourteen Mile Island, part of Allegheny Islands State Park, and then travel down the Allegheny River from the Harmar to Venture Outdoors’ newest Kayak Pittsburgh location – Aspinwall Riverfront Park. Bring your own lunch, we will stop at Sycamore Island along the way for lunch and a short hike.

Experience yoga in the peace and beauty of the Lower Yough Gorge with instructor Taylee Wilson! Do a little yoga…do a little rafting. It’s a great way to rejuvenate! Start the day with a relaxing flow, then raft part way downstream on the Lower Yough to the next yoga spot. Repeat.

Join us and explore a new bike trail! We will pedal 15 to 20 miles out and back along the the Stavich Trail, the only bicycle trail in the U.S. that will take you through three different townships, two different counties and two different states.

The Third Annual Steel City Road Runners Sandcastle 5k and Kids FunRun is a fun, family friendly race around the historic Sandcastle Waterpark. The race course includes an out and back trip across the beautiful Sandcastle Boardwalk!

Carnegie Museum of Art is excited to host Yogamotif and their signature Yoga Paint Party™! Move with us and create a painting while you practice. Tickets include one hour of yoga, materials and the resulting original painting that reflects your yoga flow, and free admission to the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History.
