    Gateway Center and Market Square Walking Tour (Downtown Pittsburgh)

    Tuesday, May 21, 2019   Noon to 2:00 p.m.     Separated by a few short blocks––but miles apart in design philosophy––Gateway Center and Market Square reveal two different approaches to urban renewal in Downtown Pittsburgh. Participants will discuss the pros and cons of each approach as they explore Gateway Center, created during Pittsburgh’s Renaissance (1945-1974), and the Market Square area which has evolved over time through the efforts of multiple developers.     Museums are places for renewal, celebrating the great accomplishments of people and cultures. Instructor Stefanie Zito emphasizes stretching and relaxation for an energizing boost headed into the weekend. Sessions take place Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Class sessions are open to all levels and to ages 18 and over. Please bring a mat. All classes are drop-in; no online pre-registration is available. A 10-class pass can be purchased at the door for $75, $50 for members and students.

You’ll hear about the unique role of Liberty Avenue in the City’s Downtown street grid and about the importance of the railroad. To fulfill our mission and continue our success in the WAR against Hunger.
