    Free Friday Walking Tours: Upper Penn-Liberty

    There is much to admire on this relatively short walk along Penn and Liberty avenues between Ninth and Tenth streets in Downtown Pittsburgh, including the August Wilson Cultural Center, David L. Lawrence Convention Center, and Pennsylvanian (formerly, Union Station). You’ll hear about the unique role of Liberty Avenue in the City’s Downtown street grid and about the importance of the railroad. Instructor Stefanie Zito emphasizes stretching and relaxation for an energizing boost headed into the weekend. Sessions take place Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Class sessions are open to all levels and to ages 18 and over. Please bring a mat. All classes are drop-in; no online pre-registration is available. A 10-class pass can be purchased at the door for $75, $50 for members and students.

    Spring is in the air and so are plenty of birds as they migrate back to their summer locations. Join us on World Migratory Bird Day for for our story hike as we read Noisy Bird Sing-a-long by John Himmelman. Learn what sounds common birds make and take a hike to see which ones can be heard right outside the Frick Environmental Center.    This hike is suggested for ages 3-8.
