Cupid’s Chase 5K: Looking for a fun winter race? Community Options, Inc. invites runners, walkers, and rollers (baby strollers and wheelchairs) to help make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities by participating in their annual Cupid’s Chase 5K. A great chase with that special person in your life Valentine’s Day weekend!
Kids Improv Comedy Hike: Warm up on a Saturday afternoon through laughter! Bring the entire family on a hike through Pittsburgh’s downtown Cultural District to learn about the history, art, and culture of the area. After the hike, we’ll warm up inside with a fast-paced and funny children’s improv comedy show, presented by the Penny Arcade.
St. Valentine’s Day Run: Join the Greater Pittsburgh Road Runners for a two-mile or five-mile Valentine’s Day Run!
Healthy Stretching and Yoga for Runners – Winter 2016: Are you a runner, walker, or simply someone who needs to work on their flexibility? This is the class for you.The class will begin with some centered breathing exercises and will then move through a series of movements to warm up the body. This will be followed by a series of stretches designed to limber up those troubled areas runners deal with on a regular basis. Hamstrings, calves, lower back, shoulders, neck, feet, and many more. Class will run approximately one hour. Bring a yoga mat or large beach towel, water, and come dressed in comfortable clothing.
barre3 @ Bethel Park Public Library: Bethel Park Public Library and barre3 Southpointe are teaming up to offer a free 45-minute Thursday evening class. They will take over the space with mats, music, and moves. Stay after class to glance around and find your next great read! Bring a yoga mat and water. We’ll bring the music and the fun. By registering to attend, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win a barre3 prize!
Ballroom Dancing for Beginners & Beyond: Are you looking to learn the basics of ballroom dancing? Look no further! The lesson is from 7 to 8 p.m., then a ball and dance until 10:30 p.m. Instructors are on hand all night to help you learn!
Soup of the Month Hike: Join Venture Outdoors for an invigorating three- to four-mile walk that explores one of the area’s beautiful regional parks. After the walk, we will gather and be treated to a hot bowl of tasty soup. Two homemade soups will be served (one vegetarian) as well as bread, hot chocolate, and tea. Soups are provided by Soup Sega! of the Bulgarian Macedonian National Educational and Cultural Center.
Mindfulness-Based Anxiety Reduction: UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine is offering this weekly class through April (eight classes). The group includes mindfulness meditation, mindful yoga, and group discussions. Participants work toward developing skills that can be applied in daily life to anxiety, as well as other life stressors.
North Park Brunch Hike: Get in a workout before a meal as we hike four to five miles around North Park. Mid-hike we’ll stop at a shelter and enjoy a lite-brunch of delicious delicacies before finishing our route. The pace will be steady over rolling terrain.
